Nanfang TV Equips HD OB Truck with Riedel Artist Intercom

Nanfang TV's HD OBVan

NanfangTV, a regional Chinese broadcast station covering an area of approximately 100 million people equipped its new 14 camera HD OB truck with an intercom system from Riedel Communications. RacPro, Riedel's Chinese partner installed a system combining Riedel Artist digital matrix intercom and Performer digital partyline technology.

At the heart of the OB truck is an Artist 64 digital matrix intercom mainframe. To provide maximum system reliability the frame is equipped with redundant CPUs and power supplies. AIO client cards integrate 4-wire signals into the intercom, while two Riedel Connect Solo interfaces allow for the connection of POTS telephones to the intercom infrastructure. A total of 16 Artist 2000 series LCD control panels are used within the OB truck. The Artist 2000 series provides the versatile feature set of Artist control panels at an economical price level. An additional Riedel Performer digital partyline system is installed in the truck to provide communications between the director and the cameraman.

"The solution with an extra Performer installation gives us maximum system reliability. The seamless integration of both systems makes the daily operation really convenient and expands the installation,” said Chen Wenfei at Nanfang TV.

The Performer setup consists of ten digital partyline beltpacks and a C44 system interface that also integrates the partyline installation into the Artist infrastructure. Performer is the first and only partyline system combining the convenience of a partyline setup with the advantages of digital audio resulting in pristine speech transmission and audio quality.

Furthermore 20 Riedel PRO headsets are used at the Nanfang OB truck. Their soft ear cups provide very good noise attenuation and are as comfortable as the fully adjustable padded headband.
