MRG Adds intellaspots and Road Hog Full Boars to Lighting Inventory

Austrian based HES distributor Preworks delivered the 52 fixtures and consoles directly to the “Ben Hur Live” venue in Rome

Digital and Automated lighting pioneer High End Systems, a Barco company, is pleased to announce that Media Resource Group (MRG) has added 52 intellaspot automated luminaires, Road Hog Full Boar consoles, Road Hog wings and DMX Processor 8000s to their inventory.  The German based lighting company is providing the new products to the mega-production “Ben Hur Live,” which opens on September 29, 2011 in Rome, Italy.

The intellaspot is a hard edge luminaire that offers groundbreaking innovations in optics, lamp configurations, high lumen output, energy efficiency, zoom range, and overall feature set — all at a highly economical price point.   The Road Hog Full Boar is a full featured automated lighting console rooted on the renowned Wholehog software.

Austrian based HES distributor Preworks delivered the 52 fixtures and consoles directly to the “Ben Hur Live” venue in Rome.  The intellaspot was chosen after the 850 watt fixture was compared to 1500 watt fixtures.  The intensity, color mixing system and projection quality of the intellaspot were key factors in the selection for this show.

In preparing for the production, the original show was reprogrammed on the Road Hog Full Boar by Andreas Kisters and Manfred Nikitser in the WYSIWYG Studio at Preworks. The team was pleased with the speed and efficiency of the Wholehog system, noting that the show was able to be more easily programmed than on the production’s original console.

Andreas Kisters explains, “We are using for the first time the new Wholehog software version 3.2.1 and had the ability to reduce the total cue count by almost 100 cues simply by using the mark function of Wholehog OS. We are also very happy with the full tracking backup solution which gives us the total safety for the show.”

Preworks General Manager Andreas Reinbacher adds, “I am very happy to work together with Media Resource Group on this big project. In Rome our support technician Michael Mayler will assist the console operators with the reprogramming from the original desk. Furthermore, Paul Hancock from High End Systems is onsite to support any technical questions about the intellaspot and/or Wholehog OS.”
