MOG Technologies and Pebble Beach Systems Partner to Deliver Innovative File-Based Solutions

The integration of both systems made its debut at TV production company Croatel

MOG Technologies, a leading provider of centralized ingest and recording solutions, announced today that it has cooperated with Pebble Beach Systems, a leading supplier of automation and content management systems, to deliver state-of-the-art file-based workflows at Croatia’s TV production Company - Croatel and Spain’s public broadcaster - Canal Sur.

MOG Technologies is highly committed to building strong and supportive technology partnerships, in order to deliver the most flexible systems to broadcasters and production houses, taking full advantage of its centralized ingest solutions.

Pebble Beach Systems has developed comprehensive automation solutions that offer a wide range of tools for Ingest, Media Management and Playout that are able to control a range of devices and media servers. The integration with mxfSPEEDRAIL, MOG’s HD/SDI recording and file-based product, offers broadcasters significant operational benefits.

The integration of both systems made its debut at TV production company Croatel, which is providing a full turnkey broadcast service for the Croatian Olympic Committee TV. Croatel is installing a complete tapeless automated system which deploys Neptune automation from Pebble Beach Systems integrated with the Avid playout server platform and mxfSPEEDRAIL S1000 SDI Recorder. Croatel provides a national free to air TV Channel through DVB-T, IPTV and DTH platforms. mxfSPEEDRAIL S1000 allows the capture of multi-format and multi-resolution SDI signals directly into AVID systems and Pebble Beach Systems’ Anchor Media Management, with preview and schedule capabilities. With mxfSPEEDRAIL, the editors will also be able to start editing while the media is still being recorded, which increases the production performance.

“Pebble Beach Systems sees the cooperation with MOG Technologies as one that offers customers even greater functionality and choice” says Tom Gittins, Director of Sales at Pebble Beach Systems. “Allowing file based review directly in the user interface, frees up editing resources and provides for the fast turnaround necessary for news and sports channels”.

At Canal Sur, one of Spain’s major regional public broadcasters, the system is due to go on air in May 2011. Promovisa was chosen to modernize Canal Sur’s production facilities, and proposed an innovative and cost-effective automation system which integrates MOG’s mxfSPEEDRAIL S1000 and F1000 ingest solutions with Pebble Beach Systems’ Marina automation. Rather than traditional video servers, Promovisa incorporated mxfSPEEDRAIL S1111 recorders.

With mxfSPEEDRAIL F1000, Marina operators are able to review incoming feeds in high resolution and identify in and out points. Once finished, the new clips can be merged to create a conformed clip, saving storage space and saving the need for content to be passed through edit suites. During this process mxfSPEEDRAIL F1000 maintains the original metadata from the clips and allows new metadata to be added with its extended metadata annotation capabilities.

The mxfSPEEDRAIL F1000 functionality standardizes the ingest of MXF files from several sources, generating OP1A files and creating new clips with preview and sub clipping capabilities.

This cooperation plays an important role in the deployment, delivery and support of tapeless systems to end-users’ facilities. Both mxfSPEEDRAIL and Pebble Beach Systems’ automation work as an essential puzzle piece in the production workflow allowing a strong interoperability between platforms and assuring the support for all major broadcast formats, MAM’s, storages and editors.
