Mediatec Continues to Expand its Capabilities with 22 More Grass Valley HD Cameras

The new order for 22 cameras includes HD-fiber transmission capable of delivering full 1080p50/60 from the basestation

Mediatec, the leading outside broadcast company in Scandinavia, has returned to Grass Valley™ for an additional 22 LDK 8000 Elite high-definition cameras, bringing the total for its fleet to almost 100. This order, placed at the end of 2010, follows a previous order for eight LDK 8000 Elite cameras and two Kayak™ production switchers for two new outside broadcast trucks in September of 2010.

Mediatec and Grass Valley built a strong relationship since 2007 when Grass Valley supplied two large HD outside broadcast trucks which were first used at the Beijing Olympic Games. Since then, Mediatec has developed rapidly, and today operates 30 trucks located throughout the region. In 2010, they provided the entire host broadcast activities for the royal wedding in Stockholm, Sweden.

“Our business continues to expand, and we quickly needed more cameras,” said Mats Berggren, Sales Director at Mediatec. “There are cheaper cameras on the market but we were looking for guaranteed reliability, quality, and performance—and that’s what the LDK 8000 Elite provides. It is very popular with our clients and our operators for one simple reason: it produces great pictures every time, and that alone makes it a far superior product than those with a lower price tag.”

“We are delighted to be associated with Mediatec's success story,” said Jeff Rosica, Executive Vice President for Grass Valley. “We demonstrated to them that we make the best cameras, and we backed it up with great support from our camera factory team in Breda, the Netherlands, great after sales service, and by providing special assistance in big projects like the royal wedding. Mediatec has rapidly grown to become a major outside broadcast player in Europe, and all their HD units are equipped with Grass Valley cameras and switchers—the number one choice for critical live applications.”

The new order for 22 cameras includes HD-fiber transmission capable of delivering full 1080p50/60 from the basestation. The order, which also included lenses, tripods, and heads, was placed in late December 2010 with delivery in January and February 2011.
