Mediatec Broadcast Chooses Sony Professional

Sony to deliver new studio cameras and image mixers to Mediatec Broadcast

Mediatec Broadcast has chosen Sony Professional as the new supplier of studio cameras for its Outside Broadcast (OB) operations. The deal comprises a total of 27 new studio cameras (made up of HDC-1700, HDC-2400 and HDC-3300 models), 3 new image mixers, PMW-500 camcorders and a large number of BRC-H900 and BRX-Z330 robotic cameras.

Mediatec is the largest production company in Sweden and delivers live productions to C More, TV4, Viasat and SVT, among others. The company recently signed a new four-year contract with C More for ice hockey productions, so an investment in new production equipment was necessary in order to meet heavy demand.

"One of the main reasons we chose Sony is that we wanted an end-to-end solution for studio, ENG and remote controlled cameras. Sony's products are very robust and well suited for OB use and the large amount of content we produce. With a tight game schedule, constant rigging is required and you need cameras that can withstand that kind of wear," said Jens Envall, Technical Director at Mediatec Broadcast.

At the same time, Mediatec has gone through a generational change which has involved transferring virtually all production from SD (Standard Definition) to HD (High Definition).
