Kyodo Television Invests in EVS XT3 Servers

XT3 Servers for Live 3G HD Sports Production

EVS, a leading provider of broadcast and media production systems for sports, news and TV entertainment, has announced that Japanese television production company Kyodo Television has invested in EVS production systems. Kyodo Television has chosen to equip its new KR-advance 3G HD outside broadcast (OB) van with four EVS XT3 production servers. The state-of-the-art OB van was used for the production of major sports events in Japan, including the Tokyo Sevens rugby tournament, J League and FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup football, and the Oaks and Derby horse races.

Kyodo Television selected EVS’ XT3 server based on its 3G HD capabilities and full compatibility with the Sony HDC-2500 3G HD camera, as well as its renowned performance and reliability. In the KR-advance 3G van, the XT3 servers are configured in a six-channel 3D/1080p configuration. With each XT3 server supporting up to three HDC-2500 cameras in dual super slow-motion mode, the four servers record all the images from 12 mounted cameras - eight Sony HDC-2500 3G HD cameras and four Sony HDC-2000 HD cameras – simultaneously.

A long-time user of EVS XT servers, Kyodo Television has also invested in EVS Multicam LSM remote controllers and an EVS XNet2 media sharing network for controlling and networking the four new XT3 servers in the KR-advance 3G van.

With its flexible eight-channel SD/HD and six-channel 3D/1080p configuration, the XT3 enables complete media control from ingest to playout, including live editing, slow motion replays, multi-channel playback and transfer to third-party systems such as craft editors, automation, archiving and storage. The XT3 is the industry’s first server featuring six non-stop 3Gbps feed ingest and playout channel capabilities for live and near-live 3D or 3G production operations.
