IHSE Introduces the Switching of USB 3.0 and SDI

The world’s smallest USB 3.0 matrix switch comprising 8 flexible UNI ports

IHSE announced the release of Draco tera compact models comprising new I/O ports for the switching of USB 3.0 signals up to 5 GBit/s and 3G-SDI with resolutions up to 1080p.

IHSE GmbH is a worldwide leading manufacturer of advanced KVM products for the switching and extension of computer signals. Matrix switches enable switching between various computers and remote consoles (keyboard, pointing devices, monitor and other peripheral devices).

The highly successful Draco tera compact KVM matrix switch series, designed for space-constrained installations such as OB vans and small studios, is now available in new models capable of switching SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and 3G-SDI. The series incorporates IHSE-developed universal I/O cards which can be individually loaded with SFP modules for coax and fiber connections, allowing users to choose and mix transmission formats to suit their requirements.

The Draco tera compact 8U (see illustration above) comprises eight ports for SDI and USB 3.0 over a mix of fiber and coax, depending on the SFP modules used. By using the appropriate coax adapter cable, it’s easy to integrate it into the existing coax infrastructure. Users who prefer fiber installations can easily adapt the switch with the 3G-SDI fiber SFP option. The device supports the SDI media conversion between signals available from a coax network to fiber output vice-versa.

The Draco tera compact 64 and 80 ports switches are available as hybrid versions, equipped with 48 Cat X ports and 16 or 32 UNI ports for SDI and USB 3.0. Hybrid switches offer a practical solution to switch and extend USB 3.0 and SDI in parallel with KVM extenders for HDMI, DVI, Dual Link DVI and DisplayPort up to 4K resolution. USB 2.0, audio and serial interfaces are also included within the same switch frame.
