IHSE adds UNI-I/O Board Options to Draco

3G-SDI and USB 3.0 are now available on Draco tera enterprise KVM matrix switch family

IHSE, a worldwide leading manufacturer of advanced KVM products for the switching and extension of computer signals today announced the new universal Draco tera UNI-I/O board for 3G-SDI and USB 3.0 SuperSpeed data rate signals. The 8-port UNI-I/O boards will support SDI resolutions up to 1080p60 and/or USB 3.0 signals up to 5 GBit/s.

Now you can customize an IHSE Draco tera enterprise KVM matrix switch with fiber or coax SFPs supporting either SDI signals or USB 3.0 sources. The UNI-I/O card is an innovative coax/fiber hybrid solution using modular SFP (small form-factor pluggable) technology. Unlike traditional coax or fiber cards, where each card must be dedicated to either all fiber or all coax the UNI-I/O card offers ultimate flexibility. Each port can be configured to the desired cabling requirements. Share coax and fiber connections on the same 8 port card. Simply order the basic UNI-I/O card and add the SFP modules desired.

The UNI-I/O allows users to reside broadcast sources and KVM sources in the same matrix frame. This creates a superior workflow control arrangement where users must be able to edit and play out video sources in real-time broadcast environments. The UNI-I/O option card will also support SuperSpeed USB 3.0 sources with throughput rates up to 5 GBit/s. The increased bandwidth makes USB 3.0 ideal for switching postproduction editing software, USB 3.0 cameras, HD videos and remote storage devices.

By using the appropriate coax adapter cable, it’s easy to integrate these cards into the existing coax infrastructure. Users who prefer fiber installations can easily adapt the UNI-I/O with the 3G-SDI fiber SFP option. The UNI I/O card supports the SDI media conversion between signals available from a coax network to fiber output or vice-versa.

The Draco tera enterprise hybrid fiber/copper switch matrix offers advanced features for large scale KVM and SDI class signal routing. Instant switching and flex-port technology allows any port to act as either an input or output depending on the connected device. It is offered in 48, 80, 160 and 288 ports and is ideal for the space constrained work areas such as production studios or command and control environments. Each card slot in the switch matrix can be populated in groups of 8 ports as all fiber, all Cat X or a mixture of Cat X and fiber/coax.

For ultra-compact installations such as mobile production studios, IHSE provides three new fixed UNI matrix switch offerings;an 8 port Draco tera compact UNI matrix switch, a hybrid 48 Cat X with 16 UNI ports, and a 48 Cat X with 32 UNI ports. The UNI ports allow easy parallel switching of SDI or USB 3.0 switching alongside common KVM data transports such as HDMI, DVI, Dual Link DVI and DisplayPort up to 4K, USB 2.0, audio and serial interfaces – all within the same switch frame.

The full range of IHSE KVM products, including the new UNI-I/O card, will be available for demonstration at IBC in Amsterdam, September 12-16, 2014. Booth 7.B30.
