IABM to deliver most comprehensive support yet for members at IBC

State of the Industry conference, Design & Innovation awards, member lounges and new IP Interoperability Zone& the international broadcast and media technology vendors association stretches out at premier European show

IABM will have a massive presence at IBC 2016, offering the hundreds of IABM member companies at the show a comprehensive range of support services together with a number of key industry-leading initiatives to inform and drive the whole broadcast and media technology industry.

Two key IABM events are the State of the Industry conference (8am Friday 9th September in the Forum) and the annual Design & Innovation Awards (6pm Saturday 10th September, Emerald Lounge). In addition, IABM has partnered with AIMS and IBC to deliver the new IP Interoperability Zone in Hall 8, which is sure to be a must-visit destination for everyone looking to an IP future in broadcast and media technology. Two dedicated lounges are also available to members for off-the-show-floor meetings, and there’s also an APAC-themed Happy Hour taking place in the IABM Amtrium Lounge (now called Hall 4) on Sunday 11th September at 5pm.
The IABM State of the Industry Conference will kick off with the latest industry research results – including the outcome of a major pre-show end-user survey – delivered by IABM CEO, Peter White. A distinguished panel will then discuss the state and future of our industry. Panellists include Charlie Vogt of Imagine Communications, Louis Hernandez of Avid, Steve Canepa of IBM, Wenbing Yao from Huawei Technologies and Peter White, under the chairmanship of IABM Director of Technology and Strategic Insight, John Ive.

The IABM Design & Innovation Awards are always one of the show highlights. Celebrating the innovation that drives our industry forward, and judged by a panel of 40 truly independent industry experts, both shortlisted companies and winners receive industry-wide recognition for their achievements. IABM will be announcing the shortlisted candidates within the next few days.

The new IP Interoperability Zone – delivered by IABM and AIMS - is located in Hall 8, and brings to life the JT-NM roadmap, a common roadmap for IP interoperability that is wholly based on the work of the Joint Task Force on Networked Media (comprised of AMWA, EBU, SMPTE and VSF) and AES. Central to the zone will be a live IP production studio, based on the technologies of the JT-NM roadmap that Belgian broadcaster VRT has been using daily on-air all summer as part of the LiveIP project, a collaboration between the EBU and VRT.

Throughout the show, IABM members have free access to the two IABM member lounges - Level 2, Hall 4 (Amtrium) and at stand no 8.F54. New for this year, and in response to member requests, the Hall 4 lounge will also be open throughout build-up, providing members with much-needed business facilities while the organised chaos of stand building continues. Whether it’s following up a lead from the show in a quiet corner of the lounge using our free Wi-Fi, networking with other exhibitor members or just taking a refreshment break, the lounges are always a very popular resource for members.
