DirectOut to Show Ravenna – MADI Bridge

At prolight+sound 2014 in Frankfurt DirectOut unveils MONTONE.42, a MADI (AES10) to audio-over-IP bridge

As the demand for Ethernet based transmissions in professional audio environments is increasing, MONTONE.42 provides seamless integration of network audio with existing infrastructures. Based on the Ravenna network standard and MADI (AES10) it serves as a versatile link for broadcast, live-sound and studio applications.

MONTONE.42 is equipped with four MADI and two gigabit network ports. Up to eight streams can be assembled with an individual number of audio channels from the MADI inputs, using the internal routing matrix. 64 audio channels are supported even at 2FS (88.2/96kHz).

The device can be synchronized to MADI input, word clock, video input (black burst), network (PTP) or internal clock. When set to internal clock, it may also serve as a network grandmaster.

An AES67 compatible profile is available in MONTONE.42 to ensure seamless interoperability with other audio-over-IP devices. Beyond that, native Ravenna profiles can be used for e.g. high-performance transmission at minimum latency.
