deltatre Renews Commitment With Forbidden Technologies

deltatre Integrates FORscene Into Sports-Delivery Workflow

Forbidden Technologies plc (AIM: FBT), the AIM-quoted owner and developer of the market-leading cloud video platform FORscene, announced that Italian sports media and technology leader deltatre has renewed its partnership with Forbidden Technologies for 2014. After experiencing the power and flexibility of FORscene in preparing video clips during major sporting events in the summer of 2012 and from global golf tournaments in 2013, the sports media services company has again signed on to incorporate FORscene into its workflow for covering 30 golf events this year.

FORscene allows deltatre to edit live feeds from any Web browser and distribute those streams across several locations, reducing the need to send editors to outside broadcast sites each weekend and saving both time and travel expenses.

"Stream-based workflows are changing production substantially and have opened a host of new collaboration possibilities for us," said Jim Irving, commercial director at deltatre. "Having integrated FORscene into deltatre solutions for some of the biggest sporting events of the past two years, we have seen it complement our service offering, making it easier and faster for us to deliver high-quality video with the immediacy that audiences now expect."

deltatre feeds the live event footage directly into FORscene where the footage is transcoded to an edit proxy that editors use to create highlight and colour packages for the golf tournament. Integration with deltatre's Magma graphic system means that stings and graphics are easily incorporated before publishing the videos at high resolution.

Besides a reduction in staff and travel costs, deltatre has reduced the turnaround time required to produce highlights packages to just minutes. deltatre uses skilled staff in rotation to ensure consistent, high-quality output every week, and FORscene enables remote staff members to collaborate easily from wherever they are.

Another benefit for deltatre is that FORscene provides professional post-production tools in a software as a service (SaaS) package. As a result, deltatre can perform the full range of post-production functions using flexible SaaS pricing, which has reduced the company's operating costs and allowed it to scale its services to match demand.

"We've enjoyed a productive collaboration with deltatre over the past two years in delivering a variety of sports coverage to global audiences, and the fact that we've cemented that relationship for another year is a testament to the benefits FORscene brings to deltatre's sports-delivery workflow," said Greg Hirst, business development director, Forbidden Technologies plc. "By once again choosing FORscene as part of its editing infrastructure, deltatre will be able to continue offering unrivalled service and support for its demanding international clients."
