D’n’A cables in Qatar Education City

The Education City project just outside Doha in Qatar is a mammoth undertaking and see’s the establishment of multiple campuses

Canford has shipped over 455km of cable for use in The Qatar Foundation’s Education City in Doha. The order included over 40km of the new D’n’A cable suitable for digital and analogue signals launched at IBC and PLASA, 100km of data cabling and 24km of the BBC PSF1/6 RCM - a 50Ω miniature coaxial cable uniquely available from Canford.

The Education City project just outside Doha in Qatar is a mammoth undertaking and see’s the establishment of multiple campuses on a single 14 square km site. Universities from the region, the UK and the US are all taking part. Baytur, a leading regional systems integrator, chose Canford’s new D’n’A variant FST-HD across the project. The D’n’A range includes twin and multicores cables and comes in heavy duty and Low Fire Hazard (LFH™) versions. This range of 100Ω cables carries both AES/EBU digital and analogue mic/line level signals equally well.

The BBC PSF1/6 RCM is intended for use in UHF and VHF applications and can also be found in multiple locations across The Education City. It is one of a range of cables that were designed by the BBC. This wide range of BBC cables is now manufactured uniquely by Canford and includes the latest version of their ultra high quality microphone cable PSF 2/9 which superseded the ubiquitous PSF 1/9.

The project also required over 100km of data cables across the various buildings and a variety of audio multicores.

‘It’s a pleasure working with such a well run and professional company as Baytur, especially on such a monumental and prestigious project as this,’ commented Canford International Sales Development Manager, Emily Headon. ‘That so much of our new D’n’A cable has been chosen for use in the project is particularly pleasing since this is exactly the kind of application these cables are designed for and we hope more will follow.’
