Broadcast Solutions OPEN HOUSE 2011

The 3D-ready 12-camera OB van of HD Broadcast GmbH showed a live 3D broadcast

On June 16th Broadcast Solutions GmbH hosted the annual OPEN HOUSE event. More than 100 visitors came from Germany and all over the world to take a look at the newest outside broadcast vehicles built by Broadcast Solutions GmbH and products of the exhibiting manufacturers. Starting at 11:00, the visitors could get an idea of the latest modern outside broadcast vehicles; most recent project was the 16-camera OB truck for KBS / South Korea, which was completed shortly before the OPEN HOUSE 2011. This vehicle will be producing the World Athletics Championships in Daegu / Korea in August 2011 for the host broadcaster KBS.

In the outside area Broadcast Solutions GmbH presented an OB truck within the new "Streamline Concept", a 10-camera truck for Mediatec Switzerland GmbH, which provides cost efficient use of materials and equipment providing full broadcast functionality within a small budget. The 3D-ready 12-camera OB van of HD Broadcast GmbH showed a live 3D broadcast with the swissrig and spectacular images were provided by a camera helicopter provided by the swiss companies imartis AG and Apoint Film GmbH with support from BMS (Heidenrod/Germany). A DSNG vehicle based on a Mercedes Sprinter from alba TV (Mainz/Germany), with wireless cameras and redundant transmission equipment was shown as well as two out of seven 4WD DSNG vehicles for the new Russian broadcast service provider Panoramio, equipped with fully redundant technology and the latest Ericsson Television Voyager 2 encoders and RX8200 IRD. These vehicles will be delivered over the summer to Russia.

Current developments and trends in the industry were presented at the workshops: Ericsson Television demonstrated their latest product developments, ProSat Solutions presented new satcom trends. Peter Jakobsson and Tobias Gramm from Broadcast Solutions explained the new "Streamline Concept" and "FlyDrive-concept" for current and future mobile production units and OB vehicles. Finally, Katharina Möller from the University of Wiesbaden presented the results of the "market study in the field of mobile production units", which offered a very good overview of the current status and trends in the market for OB vehicles in Germany.

Also this year many manufacturers and broadcast experts presented their latest products and developments: WIREWORX showed the "PerfOrack", an innovative rack system and the new compact audio production system "AudiOworx" which offers a small sized fully integrated 5.1 solution for studios or production vehicles. WIREWORX also supported the complete 3D workflow in the vehicle of HD broadcast. Other products were presented by beyerdynamic, BMS, DMS, GrassValley, LAWO, L-S-B, NewTek, Rosenberger OSI, Riedel, Snell, Studer.

The OPEN HOUSE 2011 ended with a relaxing evening event: A wine tasting with regional wines from the vineyard of Oliver Heinz (Dromersheim/Germany), supervised by the former Rheinhessen wine queen, Saskia Tittgen, accompanied with jazz music from Julia Oschewsky & Band. In addition to cheese and pretzels, french tarte from the wood oven and fresh grilled specialties were served to the visitors.
