Granite™ live video production system

Broadcast Pix™ yesterday announced the shipment of its 100th Granite™ live video production system. The 100th unit was purchased by Cisco Systems in October, and is the company’s second Granite system.

Since it began shipping this summer, Granite has been installed in a variety of facilities in more than a dozen countries. Broadcasters include Turner, affiliates of ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS, the American Forces Network, SKY4 TV, and Israel’s Sport 5 sports cable channel. Large corporate users include SAS and 3M. A number of educational institutions have also made the move to Granite, including the University of Virginia, SUNY Fredonia, Pueblo Community College, and Kettering Fairmont High School. Additional installations include Internet entertainment news site TMZ.com, churches like Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, Texas, and sporting venues like Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash.

“Only Granite combines a video switcher with a content server, enabling a breakthrough in file-based workflow,” said Ken Swanton, President, Broadcast Pix. “No wonder leading customers in all markets have discovered that Granite creates compelling live HD video at a fraction of the cost of conventional control rooms."

The new flagship product line for Broadcast Pix, Granite combines the company’s innovative Fluent™ workflow software with a new HD switcher and HD server, enabling users to create compelling live HD video at a price point unmatched in the industry today.
