Broadcast Academy Underpins New LiveTV Simulator EVS´X-One

The travel-friendly new training tool replicates a real-world live broadcast environment that allows the Academy to reach more students worldwide

The Broadcast Academy, the training and legacy unit of host broadcast specialist HBS, that’s supported by EVS, has deployed a new live TV simulator based on EVS’ X-One unified live production system. The compact simulator will allow the Broadcast Academy to deliver a broader range of courses in more locations with a state-of-the-art, real-world live production platform.

The simulator will enable a range of new training programs, including a course on “Lean Production” at London’s National Film and Television School (NFTS) that’s scheduled to launch in 2020, and will focus on delivering live productions at lower operational costs. Other courses are also set to roll out early next year.

Travel-friendly and easy-to-deploy, the new live production simulator will allow the Academy to reach many more students in wide-ranging locations, which aligns with their core objective of training a broader, more diverse talent pool. The system also enables course participants to focus on the editorial aspects of live production rather than technical set-up requirements.

With built-in live switching, graphics insertion and audio mixing, EVS’ X-One combines industry trusted speed and reliability with software-defined technology for a smart, all-in-one live production system ideal for small and mid-sized events. By using the system, a single operator can switch between multiple camera feeds, create replays and highlights, control audio, add graphics to live programming and play back content – all from a set of intuitive interfaces and with guaranteed broadcast-standard quality output.

“We’re thrilled to expand our support for the Broadcast Academy with the introduction of this first Lean Production live simulator, which relies on our award-winning X-One platform,” said Nicolas Bourdon, EVS’ Senior Vice President of Marketing. “With the growth of media distribution channels and digital platforms, the demand for live sports content is exploding, requiring more readily available and highly trained production teams. X-One meets the needs for flexible live operations for a broad range of sports productions with no compromise on quality or reliability.”
