Audio-Technica Microphones, Wireless Systems and Windshields Made Their IBC Debut

New Products on show at IBC

IBC 2010 saw a variety of Audio-Technica microphone, wireless and accessory models making their debut at the show. Highlights of the company’s IBC stand display include new broadcast interview microphones, upgraded wireless transmitters and receivers and new windshields.

Broadcast & Production Microphones

The BP4001 (cardioid) and BP4002 (omnidirectional) dynamic microphones are new additions to Audio-Technica’s Broadcast & Production series. The rugged new models are ideal for all types of broadcast interview and remote newsgathering situations including ENG, EFP and sports applications, with a frequency response tailored specifically for clear, articulate reproduction of speech.

Wireless System Upgrades

Audio-Technica’s 2000 and 3000 Series wireless systems have been upgraded with new functional and ergonomic features designed to boost performance and usability.

Improvements to the 2000 Series (now known as the 2000a) receivers include 12v antenna power, improved tone lock squelch and increased output level, while high RF power option on beltpack and handheld transmitters delivers improved range. The 2000a Series is also available in three new frequency bands – D Band, G Band and I Band – in addition to the existing E Band and F Band in Europe.

The 3000b Series now offers up to 1001 selectable UHF frequencies in C, D, E, F, G and I Bands in Europe, with nine new pre-coordinated frequency scan groups simplifying selection of usable frequencies in a multi-channel wireless system. The versatile UniPak body-pack transmitter features a backlit screen for easy reading in low-light situations and a locking battery door for added security. A three-position sliding cover on the transmitter's control panel prevents accidental shutoff or channel-switching.

Windshields

Audio-Technica’s new Soft-Zep, Windshield Series and Fur Sock lines offer a choice of windshields suitable for a variety of working conditions and budgets.

For the most demanding situations, the super light Soft-Zeps provide maximum protection against normal to extreme wind noise for hand-held, stand-mount and boom-mounted microphones. The one-width-fits-all design accommodates mics between 19mm and 24mm in width and a choice of medium, large or extra-large types is available to suit shotgun microphones of different lengths.

The Windshield Series shields are ideal for camera-mounted microphones as well as stand and boom-mounts. The encapsulated design is another one-size-fits-all type in terms of mic width and a total of seven different length options allow use on handheld ‘reporter’ mics to shotguns.

Affordable and easy-to-use, the Fur Socks are designed for use in light to normal windy conditions, and to fit over existing foam, metal or plastic windshields for greater protection. Easily secured with a Velcro fastening, the Fur Socks are available in seven sizes, including a lavalier version.
