Al Jazeera Sport teams up with SGL and Avid at The London Studios

SGL and Avid at The London Studios

Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, has sold and installed a FlashNet archive at The London Studios.

The Al Jazeera Sport channel

The system was deployed to coincide with the start of the UEFA Champions League group stages and to fulfil an ITV Sport contract to supply the Al Jazeera Sport channel with football coverage from all over Europe. The facility also provides footage from European, domestic and international football competitions.

Archive selected footage from Avid Interplay Craft suites

Part of the famous ITV tower on London’s south bank, The London Studios is using FlashNet, SGL’s flagship solution, to archive selected footage from Avid Interplay Craft suites, which can then be restored and played out at any point during the season. FlashNet is controlled via the facility’s Avid Interplay system, taking advantage of the tight integration between the two technologies, and providing up to 1000 hours of high quality SD media.
