Konzerthaus Dortmund Installs Riedel Performer Intercom

Konzerthaus Dortmund with Reinoldi

For its new communications infrastructure the Konzerthaus Dortmund installed a Performer matrix intercom system from Riedel Communications. Riedel, one of the leading manufacturers of intercom, fiber, audio and radio technology, installed a comprehensive system combining a digital matrix intercom with a radio network and the house PA.

At the heart of the installation is a Performer 32+16 intercom matrix. Performer 32 is a powerful and cost-effective digital intercom matrix/stage management system designed for the requirements of stand-alone broadcast applications, opera houses and theatres as well as for sporting and cultural events. The system is based on a modular concept and can be adapted to the user's individual requirements.

Konzerthaus Dortmund installed Artist 2000 series control panels in its lighting and audio control rooms, as well as for the director and in the reception area. The concierge uses a cost-effective control panel from the Artist 5100 series. Both series feature high-resolution LCD displays for easy-to-read call keys and also provide high quality digital audio. The selection of the house PA's 14 channels plus the control of light signals and the gong are also handled directly via the control panels. The needed GPIOs are provided by GPI cards in the Performer mainframe. Two simplex radio channels are integrated via a Riedel RiFace, allowing intercom panels to talk directly to the radios used by the technicians and ushers.

"Riedel's Performer installation simplifies the workflow in terms of communication and production significantly. Being able to select the house PA and the light signals using the control panels really saves us a lot of work," said Wolfgang Böcker, Chief Technician at the Konzerthaus Dortmund.
