New 3D Products from Sony at CES 2011

Sony elevates the consumer entertainment experience at CES 2011 with connected solutions and expanded 3D product line

Sony Electronics announced innovative new networked products and services and exciting additions to its 3D consumer offerings at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show. Embodying the spirit of its “make.believe” (pronounced make dot believe) culture, Sony’s booth demonstrates the company’s unique ability to combine technology, products, content, and services to deliver the ultimate consumer entertainment experience.

Sony’s CES display ranges from full high-definition, 3D-capable BRAVIA® LCD televisions; 3D Blu-ray Disc™ capable home audio and video systems to Cyber-shot® cameras, Handycam® camcorders, VAIO® personal computers, Reader Digital books, and much more. In addition to showcasing these new products, Sony’s exhibit display is built around consumers’ desire for networking and connecting, developing an integrated experience across platforms, devices, and applications.

Enhanced Full HD picture quality in 2D and 3D

With a clearer, brighter Full HD 3D picture with minimal blur, BRAVIA 3D TVs such as the EX720 are a perfect way to bring 3D home to the whole family. Sony 3D Active Shutter glasses are now rechargeable and have a new lightweight design for a more comfortable fit. Delivering a high quality 3D picture in Full HD, you’ll be able to enjoy immersive 3D viewing for hours and hours. The 2011 range also features enhanced Full HD 2D picture quality. The HX920 has innovative Intelligent Peak LED backlighting for a beautiful cinematic picture with deep blacks and boosted white levels.

The latest Motionflow technology combines advanced LED backlighting with High Frame Rate panels to improve picture detail and create smoother motion sequences. Motionflow XR 800 means you can watch fast-action games, sports and movies at the equivalent of 800 frames per second and enjoy high image detail with less blur.BRAVIA TVs in 2011 also feature X-Reality, a new image processor that delivers crisper detail even with Standard Definition pictures. X-Reality PRO takes things a step further: this dual-chip image processor produces true-to-life images and can even boost low quality pictures from the web to near-HD resolution.

Sony reinvents its Handycam® camcorder line with a full HD 3D solution among other breakthrough models

Sony unveiled a line-up of Handycam® camcorders that redefine the way consumers capture video and photos, including its first foray into the consumer world of 3D. Sony is the only company that can deliver motion pictures and live action sports in 3D – and then provide a similar experience to consumers at home or on-the-go. Significant technological advancements enhance the new camcorder portfolio, yielding innovative devices that offer unique digital imaging solutions. In addition to a Full HD 3D Handycam camcorder, a built-in projector model and video enthusiast model highlight Sony’s arsenal of camcorders. But both High Definition and Standard Definition options are feature-packed from the bottom of the line to the top.

Relive your memories in Full HD 3D
Creating a new standard in video creation and playback, three new additions bring 3D technology and enthusiast video solutions to Sony’s industry-leading High Definition line-up. Strengthening its 3D portfolio, Sony’s HDR-TD10E is the world’s first “Double Full HD” 3D consumer camcorder. The camcorder employs an integrated dual lens system, which includes two of each key component - double Sony G Lenses, double “Exmor R” CMOS sensors, and double “BIONZ” image processors. The dual recording system yields the ability for 3D content to be played back in Full HD 2D automatically on non-3D displays, while 3D footage can be played back without glasses on the camcorder’s crisp Xtra Fine 3.5-inch 3D LCD touch screen. You can also play Full HD 3D videos on any 3D capable HDTV. In addition to other innovative features, 10x optical zoom with Optical SteadyShot (Active Mode) and iAUTO are offered in 3D mode. Providing 64GB of flash memory, the HDR-TD10E will be available in April 2011.
