Matrox Congratulates Rob Legato for Visual Effects Oscar Nomination

Learn how Rob Legato used Matrox MXO2 MAX on the production of “Hugo.”

Matrox® Video Products Group would like to congratulate Matrox MXO2™ MAX™ user Rob Legato and the VFX team of “Hugo,” on their 2012 Oscar® nomination, awarded by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Caught on camera during production, Mr. Legato had this to say: “My facility, basically, is an open architecture for every type of device – Final Cut®, Avid®, Premiere®, After Effects®, and all these different types of things. I need to be able to have access to all of them because I’m communicating with people who use all these various products. The MXO2, when it’s coupled with Premiere, it actually can play just about any medium… so it becomes a huge asset in my editing room…I use the H.264 capability to speed up whatever it is I’m trying to do… I can a get file out in seconds where it used to take me sometimes hours to do it … and that is a huge bonus.”
