Estonian rental company Strikken supplied the lighting design and production design and equipment for the Power Stage Live TV podium, which welcomed the 2020 winners of Rally Estonia event – part of the World Rally Championship (WRC) – and was set up close to the final stage finish line, near Rally Estonia’s HQ in Tartu. They relied on the power and versatility of Robe moving lights including LEDWash 300s, LEDWash 800s and MMX Spots to deliver spectacular looking results. The luminaires were picked for their compact size, light weight, and brightness, and all rigged on the stage ground support structure together with some outrigged pipes facilitating the front positions.

The 17^th FINA World Aquatic Championships took place in Budapest, Hungary with 14 days of aquatic sports following a vibrant, colourful, elegant and epic Opening Ceremony directed by Olivier Feracci from French event production specialist ECA2 and Hungarian film director Csaba Kael, CEO of cultural hub Mupa Budapest.

Creative lighting artist / designer LeRoy Bennett utilised 91 x Robe BMFL WashBeam high powered moving lights – nine working in conjunction with RoboSpot remote operation systems – to help deliver a stunning Opening Ceremony (OC) complete with holographic projection effects, for the Riot Games’ 2019 League of Legends World Championship Finals, staged at the Accor Arena in Paris, France.

Five times world champion deaf skier Tereza Kmochová was awarded the title of the Handicapovaný Sportovec Roku 2013 (Czech Paraplegic Athlete of the Year) during a high profile event staged at the Top Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic in April.

The 2016 BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore tennis tournament was presented by SC Global and staged at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang over a seven day period at the end of October. Over 100 Robe moving lights illuminated the court as part of a lighting scheme designed by Michael Chan and Tom Langridge. While Tom ensured that the court was lit specifically for the TV cameras and special requirements like slomo, Michael looked after lighting for the Opening Ceremony and then for general ambience and effects lighting throughout the schedule of matches, including creating WOW-moments for the player entrances.

North America’s National Hockey League (NHL) spectacularly returned to play – without live audiences but with massive enthusiasm, determination and impressive TV and online followings – for the 2020 Stanley Cup playoff series which had been suspended in April during the Coronavirus pandemic. Lighting equipment was supplied by Solotech and included over 200 Robe moving lights – a mix of Pointes, Spiiders and Tarrantulas used by lighting designer Tom Kenny.

League of Legends’ World Championship 2020 Finals was staged at the new Pudong Football Stadium in Shanghai, China, a high-profile, hi-energy event notable for many things, which – in addition to being an eSports calendar highlight – included a spectacular production lighting design by Mat Stovall of LampedUp and his team who helped produce dazzling opening and closing ceremonies plus seat-edge atmospheric engineering, boosting the buzz, thrills and spills of the gaming action. Thirty-seven Robe RoboSpot systems were part of a large lighting rig for the event, specified by Mat and associate LD Trevor Stirlin Burk of Visual Noise Creative, and supplied by Christie Lites out of their UK and US bases … to the event’s main technical contractor, Creative Technology (CT) Shanghai.

The 2018 Asian Games Opening Ceremony was a high-energy, animated, colorful spectacular illustrating Indonesia’s origins and rich culture, and sending a strong message of peace and tolerance, staged in Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium.

The two hour highly visual show, produced by global brand experience agency Jack Morton Worldwide (JMW) and directed by David Zolkwer featured a cast of 2,000 plus special guests including Rod Stewart and Susan Boyle, offering a snapshot of the history, character, culture, industry, quirkiness and innate humour of Scotland. It presented the 4500 athletes from 71 participating nations to a live audience of over 40,000 plus around two billion TV viewers.

Brazilian rental company LPL supplied over 150 Robe moving lights including BMFL WashBeams to the 2017 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitationals (MSI) competition staged in the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janiero. (formally the Rio Olympic Arena). Produced by LoL developers Riot Games, professional regional champions from Asia, North America and Europe met in Brazil and battled ‘live’ to win large numbers of points counting towards the 2017 World Championship title for this hugely popular e-sport phenomena.

Czech Republic won its fourth Fed Cup women’s tennis title in five years in the 2015 final staged at Prague’s O2 Arena in front of a capacity 14,500 audience who enjoyed a nail-biting weekend of superlative tennis with their team playing a really strong Russian contingent  … and Robe was one of six very proud sponsors.
