Since years the ORF is famous for its live broadcasts of classical concerts, operas and operettas from various worldwide known open-air stages (Salzburg, Bregenz, Mörbisch) or concert halls (Salzburg, Vienna). Due to the popularity of these events througout Europe, the demand for DVDs and in the future also for high definition Blu-Rays and HD DVDs is obvious. Because of the cooperation of the ORF with DVD production companies an intensive post-production work has to be carried out before the DVD is released. This was one of the reasons why the ORF has decided to build a High Definition linear edit suite in its facilities in Vienna.

CBC Cologne Broadcasting Center, the TV production, technology and broadcast provider of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, equiped its new broadcasting facility with an intercom matrix system from Riedel Communications.

 Cypriot audio visual facility City Studios has moved into a new, purpose-built complex consisting of five dubbing suites, a video suite and the largest music production studio in Cyprus. In line with the expansion, the 20-year-old facility has updated with state of the art equipment including a large inventory of DPA microphones.

Presteigne Charter has been contracted by SIS LIVE, Europe’s largest OB and uplink provider, to supply a flypack to facilitate eight of the Grand Prix races for the BBC’s F1 coverage. The races, consisting of Australia, Malaysia, China, Bahrain, Singapore, Japan, Brazil and Abu Dhabi provide many broadcasting challenges and with many of these races being back to back, this provides a logistical challenge of its own, moving the equipment from location to location.

Programmes such as Match of the Day, Match of the Day 2, Football Focus, Score, Inside Sport and recently the World Athletic Championships in Osaka are produced from this studio.

Top level international and elite Dutch swimmers converged at the “Pieter van den Hoogenband Swim Stadium” in Eindhoven to compete for the Swim Cup 2009 from November 27th to 29th. The event was organised by Eiffel Swimmers PSV/NZE for the sixth consecutive year. Camera Corps Q-Ball robotic camera heads are keeping watchful eyes on the latest series of 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here' from Springbrook National Park on Australia's tropical Gold Coast. A total of six Q-Balls were chosen by international broadcast services company Gearhouse Broadcast as part of an 80-camera flyaway production system for the programme's ninth series. Produced by ITV Studios, the programmes are being transmitted in Britain by Granada Television (weekdays) and LWT (weekends) and on TV3 in Ireland. Over 40 hours of live programming are being sourced from 24/7 content captured over several weeks of production.

Finland’s premier broadcaster Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) has devised a clever solution to the problem of escalating travel and accommodation costs for the 2010 Winter Games. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU)* and FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation) are pleased to announce the extension of their longstanding partnership for the distribution of the European media rights until 2013.
