New All-Flash FAS (AFF) and Hybrid FAS Systems
With the recently announced generation of AFF and hybrid FAS systems, NetApp enterprise storage has surpassed proprietary media storage in the value it provides broadcast and media companies. The ONTAP® 9 operating system, running on the recently released AFF and hybrid FAS systems, can now deliver many gigabytes per second of video throughput in a single container scaling to many petabytes.

The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) – the United States’ largest fire department – recently deployed a live broadcasting platform to aid in situational awareness for fighting fires. The platform was custom-built by Mobile Viewpoint and its US partner company, KenCast.

Operating fully in 4K and with up to 16 cameras, Columbus is Gearhouse Broadcast USA’s newest OB Mobile Unit – and one of the most technologically sophisticated on the road. Requiring the flexibility to serve both large sports and entertainment productions, Gearhouse turned to equipment from German Broadcast manufacturer Lawo for many of the critical components of the impressive build.

The one-day event again takes place at the company’s headquarters in Bingen, Germany on June 1, and will comprise an exhibition area, panel discussions, lectures and several OB vans under construction.
Moroccan broadcaster SNRT (Société Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision) has contracted EVS, the leader in live video production technology, to deliver a new, fully-centralized HD news production infrastructure. The country’s public broadcaster – which owns and operates ten television channels – will use the EVS technology as it transitions to HD. With EVS’ XS3 live media servers at its core, the news production workflow will be shared by SNRT’s channels to produce current affairs and breaking news programmes. It will let the broadcaster streamline its overall operational costs and create easier shared access to recorded content between SNRT’s channels.
"We did evaluate other audio consoles, but one of the main reasons we chose the Brio was its extreme ease of use and our large installation of other Calrec desks," said Seann Harding, technical manager, engineering, Dome Productions.
