Robe Specified for Magazine London’s House Lighting Rig
It has been just 300 days since ground was broken in North Greenwich for Venue Lab’s newest venture; Magazine London has now officially opened its doors. This purpose-built destination is the largest of its kind in London, offering a striking blank canvas across 3,205 sq metres of industrial-style space for up to 3,000 people standing. The site also features a 7,000-capacity outdoor showground with unbroken views across the river towards Canary Wharf. This brand-new, multi-use venue provides an unrivalled landscape for brand events, awards dinners, conferences, exhibitions, fashion, the arts and ticketed culture.
Robe Specified for Tallinn Salme Cultural Centre
The Tallinn Salme Cultural Centre is one of the Estonian capital’s largest cultural institutions, and usually a busy hub of activity for concerts and live entertainment shows as well as hosting conferences and events. Recently, the venue has invested in 20 x Robe T1 Profile moving lights and 18 x Tetra2 moving LED battens which were specified by head of lighting, Margus Ruhno, and delivered by Robe’s Estonian distributor, E&T. The additional equipment is needed to support the venue’s increasingly busy programme, although there are currently no performances due to closure amidst the pandemic.

“We had brand new 470W HMI lamps right next to the Spikies, and on a few occasions, I couldn't tell which lamp was which!” stated lighting and visuals designer Tom Sutherland talking about rapper Pitbull’s current “Time Of Our Lives” residency playing at the Axis Theatre, Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas. Tom has incorporated 110 Spikies into his rig … and the super-bright little luminaires from Robe are certainly holding their own in a substantial lighting rig of over 600 fixtures.

The highly acclaimed World Christmas Circus returned to Amsterdam’s Royal Theatre Carré for their 2016-17 season … for the first time with a new Robe moving light, which was chosen by the hugely popular and successful event’s long term lighting designer, Wim Dresens.
Wim has lit the Christmas Circus for the last 20 years, and has also been engaged in circus-specific training over the years which has enabled him to perfect the specialist techniques required to light horses – 37 featured in this year’s show - aerialists, acrobats and other circus performers.
