The House of Blues Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay hotel is one of Las Vegas’ premier concert venues—and it just upped the ante with the installation of HARMAN’s JBL VTX Series line array. The House of Blues hosts major touring acts and will be home to a 2-year residency by Carlos Santana, performing his “Greatest Hits Live: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” through 2014. Sound Image of Escondido, California, designed and installed the JBL VTX system under the direction of Jason Schmidlapp, with support from Dave Kaiser of Sound Marketing West, HARMAN Professional’s regional sales rep firm.

LiveU, a leader in portable video-over-cellular solutions, today announced that it has raised $27 million in a funding round to expedite its product development and global expansion. The round was led by new investor Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation by existing investors: Canaan Partners, Carmel Ventures and Pitango Venture Capital. To date, LiveU has raised around $50 million.

The 2012/13 FIBT World Cup season is adding a new highlight to its calendar – the FIBT Triple Trophy. The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (FIBT) and Infront Sports & Media, its media and marketing partner for the FIBT World Cup and World Championship events, are introducing the Triple Trophy as an innovative 100,000 Euro jackpot concept, which requires athletes from each discipline to win three pre-defined race highlights within the season. ARRI’s new Fiber Remote Option for the ALEXA camera has passed the ultimate field test by being successfully integrated into extensive outdoor broadcast (OB) coverage of a spectacular Coldplay concert at the Stade de France in Paris. The footage forms part of a film titled COLDPLAY LIVE 2012, which will screen in cinemas worldwide for one night on November 13th before its Blu-Ray release on November 19th.
