Sony Corporation (Sony) and the PGA TOUR today announced that they will present live 3D broadcasts of the 2011 Sony Open to be held at the Waialae Country Club, Oahu, Hawaii, US next January. Having conducted successful 3D testing at multiple events this year, both parties recently concluded an agreement to present the tournament in live 3D. The test locations included the 2010 Sony Open in Hawaii.

Sportcast and SKY are Ready to Broadcast the German Bundesliga in 3D

With the start of the second round of the German Soccer League (DFL) on 14th January 2011 Sportcast will start its regular 3D productions of one match per matchday for SKY Germany. As a final test Sportcast produced the DFB Cup match FC Augsburg – Schalke 04 (0:1) on 21st December 2010 with the production company TopVision in 3D.

MEO, the new television service from Portugal Telecom (PT), and Media Luso, the broadcast services company that is part of the MEDIAPRO group, recently set a new standard for professional surfing with the live 3D broadcast of the Rip Curl Pro Event in Portugal. As part of the ASP World Tour, the Rip Curl Pro Portugal took place in Peniche, home to Europe’s greatest pipeline called Supertubos, between October 7th and 18th. All live replays were managed with the newly upgraded 3D XT[2] servers from EVS.

Chyron HyperX3 On-Air Graphics System Leveraged On Canada's First 3D Hockey Broadcast

Chyron today announced that two HyperX3 on-air graphics systems were used in Canada's first 3D hockey broadcast, a matchup between longtime rivals, the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs, on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. During the Dec. 11th game at Toronto's Air Canada Centre, the Chyron systems allowed for use of a dynamic 3D score bug and other graphics with 3D objects and animation in this landmark broadcast.
