Telefe at the FIFA World Cup 2010

Broadcasting and Trans¬mission Manager Mauricio Franco and his Team

A consortium of nine broadcast stations across Argentina, Telefe is one of two rights holders representing the two time FIFA World Cup™ winners. Operating two ENG crews – one mainly based at the national team’s training camp and the other following La Biceleste during the build-up to Argentina games – Telefe are hoping to offer total coverage to the viewers back home.

“Overseen by Telefe Group President Luis Velo we will have some 70 people working here during the tournament,”explains Broadcasting and Transmission Manager Mauricio Franco, “along with the ENG crews, we will be running an OB van at venues and, something new to this tournament, we will be operating a mobile studio, something newly built for the World Cup and something we are very excited about.” Telefe will also be using four unilateral cameras at all Argentina games and hoping for key commentary and interview positions throughout. They are also using a mixture of locally sourced equipment and equipment shipped from Argentina.

“Because Telefe is a group of stations, and the only open private broadcaster from Argentina,” continues Mauricio, “we are able to broadcast across multiple cities, something which will extend our target audience reach.”
