The finest athletes, competition at maximum level, beauty, harmony, entertainment, involvement, live music. Welcome to the glowing and shiny world of Renault International Roller Cup, a peculiar and innovative contest created by the passion of two former athletes, Franco Culcasi and Davide Malagoli. An artistic roller skating face-off between the best skaters of the world, designed to enrich the show and capture the audience’s interest.
Four teams, each one made-up of four aces who will challenge each other through male and female single, couple dance, couple artistic and show groups, undergoing the judgment of technical jury which will determine the winning team securing the trophy. A brand new formula in which athlete’s performances are enhanced thanks to the live music, performed live by the Italian show man Paolo Belli and his 20 element musician’s band.

To present the event which will be held in Modena the upcoming 8thof December at PalaPanini, Onorevole Sabatino Aracu president of Fédération Internationale de Roller Sport and of Federazione italiana hockey e pattinaggio, Franco Culcasi, Renault International Roller Cup chief executive, Sara Verenucci, European champion, Dario Betti, junior World Champion, Gabriele Quirini, Renault International Roller Cup’s coach and choreographer and the show man Paolo Belli, assisted by his co-announcers Arianna Ciampoli and Angela Tucci.
The athletes. Renault International Roller Cup brings into the rank a parade of stars, skaters able to bewitch the most demanding audience. A striking palmares brought by the protagonists of the event hosted in Modena: more than 20 gold medals conquered in world competitions, with the terrific record of Tanja Romano, the real “queen” with 14 World Championships. And let’s not forget the promising Dario Betti, the 19 years old Italian skater already won 2 World Championships and he’s accounted as the future of Italian and worldwide artistic roller skating: nowadays he’s the only athlete still competing who can perfectly execute the triple axel. A big part of the competitors will come from all over the world, among them the south-Americans Daniel Arriola and Marcel Stürmer.
The Argentinean Arriola is esteemed as a real artist who expresses himself through skates, as much as the beloved Brazilian Stürmer, very popular in his country where his exhibitions always turn out to be sold-out events. Among the World Champions who will compete at PalaPanini Debora Sbei and Andrea Barbieri: to complete the exceptional parterre the USA couple Heater Menard and Kyle Turley, silver medal at 2009 world championship, Slovenian athlete Lucija Mlinaric former European champion and the Spanish couple formed by Ayelen Morales and Javier Cuesta. Last but not least, the Italian pairs Sara Verenucci and Danilo Decembrini, a new couple who has already won the 2010 European championship, and Laura Marzocchini and Enrico Fabbri who won the World Championship in Austria in 2007.

The show. Renault International Roller Cup carries sport and entertaining in its DNA, thank to the mastered production of Roller Modena and Cicuta Produzioni both elements are mixed together and balanced to create an event with captivating rhythms. In addition to athlete’s performances the fine skill and irresistible sympathy of Paolo Belli. The histrionic show man, “armed” with roller skates for this special occasion, will be the announcer and real soul of the event thank to his energy, his powerful voice and the live music of his Big Band. Being in Modena, the city where “il tenorissimo” Luciano Pavarotti was born, a tribute to lyric was undoubtedly due: the young tenor from Ferrara Alessandro Ferrieri will perform live some of the arias on which the athletes will skate.
A union, not to forget the others. This year Renault International Roller Cup is pleased and honored to be partner and supporter of the Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis, of which Matteo Marzotto is co-founder. The Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis is an ONLUS which aims to promote and finance projects of advanced clinical research in order to improve the length and quality of patient’s life, and finally defeat what is the first serious genetic disease in Italy. Renault International Roller Cup will devolve part of the taking to sustain foundation’s activities and projects, an additional reason not to miss the event of the 8th of December in Modena to cheer the athletes who will show off a few days after the World Championship scheduled in Portugal from 24th of November to 4th of December.
