MEDIAPRO supports Al Jazeera Sport

MEDIAPRO will provide production services for Al Jazeera Sport’s coverage of the FIFA World Cup this summer in South Africa, which is due to get underway on 11th June. A team of more than 100 technical staff will provide services for the channel from Qatar for the coverage which includes three different domains: Outdoor, Venues and IBC.

Outdoor, Venues and IBC

For the Outdoor service 16 ENG teams using high definition technology will be used with 16 post-production units with Final Cut Pro HD for lap-tops along with 6 DSNG’s.

The equipment for Venues, stadia where the matches will be played, will be made up of three HD mobile units with 7 cameras and 7 Switcher Boxes with 2 HD cameras.

The Al Jazeera Sport nerve-centre will be housed in the IBC (International Broadcast Center), the production hub where there will be two independent sets each with 5 cameras (inside and outside), a Media Server complete with a 650-hour warehousing capacity, areas for post-production, off-tube, translators and commentators, in addition to a Master Control Room (MCR) which will be responsible for receiving and distributing all the signals produced for Al Jazeera from and to the FARM satellite set up on the outside of the building with a 5 Downlinks and 4 Up-links (KU y C Bands) capability.

A MEDIAPRO team will travel to South Africa at the beginning of May to start the set-up of the IBC with the project coming to a close on 12th July.
