VENICE from DVS complements product portfolio of LANG AG

DVS has equipped LANG AG, a leading wholesaler of visual presentation technology, with nine VENICE video servers

LANG AG, in business for over 30 years as wholesaler both for the leasing as well as sale of visual presentation technology, has again decided in favor of future-proof DVS equipment: Since fall 2010, LANG AG has serviced the requirements of its customers with nine VENICE video servers, enabling seamless presentation workflows. Besides considerable workflow acceleration, among other things customers of LANG AG also profit from a variety of supported formats as well as the channel-grouping feature in VENICE.

The DVS video server had already been used successfully for a customer of LANG AG at the IFA 2010 in Berlin: During the presentation of the latest display generation, VENICE shone with the play-out via 3G HD-SDI on two channels simultaneously and displayed content in 1920x1080 resolution. With an increased frame rate of 50p, the DVS video server ensures fewer motion artifacts and therefore a more precise image.

LANG AG gains an important advantage through VENICE’s multi-format ability: Besides numerous uncompressed formats, the video server also increasingly supports compressed formats such as DVCPRO®, AVC-Intra, DNxHD® and XDCAM, as well as single image sequences such as TIFF and DPX. With its channel-grouping feature, VENICE enables the synchronized play-out of up to four camera streams per system, an enormous gain for LANG AG, since the multi-channel capability minimizes the logistical and technical work involved.

In addition to its qualities as a play-out server, through dynamic playlists VENICE increases the flexibility of LANG AG customers, especially with presentations: While VENICE is playing out, the clip order can still be changed and new clips can be added.

Hubertus Beckmann, Head of Engineering at LANG AG: "With VENICE, DVS demonstrates how one realizes ambitious workflows in the presentation sector. With our new video servers from DVS, we offer our clients a stable, unique solution. Like all DVS products, VENICE is an extremely reliable system with which we plan long-term."

Michael Bauer, Sales Director Region Central Europe at DVS: "We have maintained an outstanding business relationship with LANG AG for many years. We are delighted to now be able to support them, alongside our Pronto disk recorders and the DI workstation CLIPSTER®, also with future-proof VENICE systems."
