Telemetrics Camera Control Systems Optimize Space for Regional French Broadcaster

System is Perfect Fit for HDR Communications-Designed Studio

The Lorraine region of France, located in the northeast corner of the country, has a rich and diversified history and culture. Among the many services available to the residents is local public television programming from the Lorraine Council regional government, broadcast locally and on their Web TV. To provide more programming with a local perspective, new production facilities were added to the broadcast center in the City of Metz, including a Telemetrics camera control system for added efficiency and increased production value.

The Telemetrics equipment is installed in a purpose-built studio annex and remotely controlled by operators in the main studio. Designed and installed by HDR Communications of Obernai, France, the broadcast-level production facility features a three-camera set using Telemetrics HP-S4 Pan/Tilt heads mounted on motorized elevating TelePods. The production equipment is controlled using the Telemetrics CPS-ST-S Studio Software system complete with a desktop joystick controller for smooth and easy control of set up and camera moves. Operators also work from a touch screen display for shot recall from thumbnails on the GUI.

“The Telemetrics system was the ideal solution for this application because, among other advantages, it utilizes the small space in the best possible way,” said Eric Hezarifend of HDR. “Integration was easy and operationally the customer is very happy.”

Programs are produced three or more times per week and focus on local interest activities such as industry, development, culture and local politics from the Lorraine region. Although small, the set is multi-purpose and can be used in the studio or outside for interviews, news delivery, demonstrations or live performances, with easy system control through the Telemetrics control solution.
