A second CLIPSTER® for New Zealand’s famous post production house Park Road

Park Road has enjoyed working with DVS technology for several years

Park Road Post Production already successfully performs DCI Mastering with DVS's flagship system CLIPSTER® that enables the generation of secure data packages. Both CLIPSTER® and DVS's award-winning software Spycer® have assisted the New Zealand post house for years in streamlining DI workflows: Sensitive film material is securely and easily distributed to Park Road’s international customers. With the implementation of a second CLIPSTER®, Park Road relishes the DI workstation’s latest DCI features and 3D workflow options.

Park Road is a renowned facility that has worked on numerous successful Hollywood productions including The Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong, and District 9. The post house is a purpose built feature film facility that provides a full suite of services to its clients including sound mixing and highly professional local processing of film material recorded in New Zealand.

Park Road especially benefits from CLIPSTER's new DCI capabilities: The DVS DI workstation generates 3D Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) in real time and its sophisticated hardware helps accelerate DCI Mastering and 3D subtitling in 4K. Numerous stereoscopic real-time workflows like 3D color correction or geometric adjustments, e.g. rotation, zoom and pan, enable Park Road to effortlessly handle 3D material. Thanks to the new 3D depth grading, it is now possible to fine-tune the depth of a 3D scene. Here, CLIPSTER® uses a very nuanced approach that enables the creation of perfect 3D for any screen size.

Moreover, CLIPSTER® is a powerful tool for the RAW deliverable process: It processes RAW material from digital film cameras like RED ONE®, ARRI ALEXA, SI-2K and Phantom HD GOLD in high speed and handles any content. CLIPSTER's convenient tool set for the logging and linking of digital material further facilitates the processing of RAW dailies. CLIPSTER® is capable of creating a single timeline from a wide range of different RAW data, all of which Park Road's operators can decode and demosaic in real time. With its comprehensive set of burn-in features and a wide range of deliverable formats, CLIPSTER® covers all aspects of the deliverable workflow.

Eric Augereau, DVS Regional Sales Director Asia Pacific: "Park Road is certainly one of our most important clients, not only in Asia Pacific, but worldwide. We are very pleased that the DVS equipment meets their DCI demands to the fullest possible extent and that the first successful installation was followed by a repeated commitment."

Ian Bidgood, Technical Director at Park Road: "We found that our first CLIPSTER® met all the requirements for DCP and video mastering, and with the ability to import practically any type of file and convert to DCP, CLIPSTER® makes for a fast and efficient workflow for our clients. The growing market for DCP and 3D DCP, along with increasing digital demands has led us to invest in an additional CLIPSTER®."
