RTS – OB Van HD 2 Produces with the Latest KSC Control System

RTS produces an extensive range of productions throughout Switzerland using its two OB Vans, HD1 and HD2, based at its offices in Geneva.

The new OB Van HD2 is designed to be versatile and meet the most demanding technological requirements, ranging from the Tour de Romandie to the Montreux Comedy Festival through Super League Football and Classical Music.

The requirements for these versatile productions are reflected by the technical equipment in the HD2:
With a total of 10 cameras, a Sony MVS-7000X 4 M/E production switcher, integrated DVE and three EVS systems as well as a Riedel Mediornet Compact network, the HD2 is ready to meet any video challenge imaginable. A 5.1 surround sound audio control room equipped with Stagetec Nexus and Aurus components, rounds off the uncompromisingly flexible equipment.

When it comes to the control systems, the equipment holds true to the maxim of providing maximum reliability and flexibility, with BFE’s KSC Commander System used to control a total of 500 video signals, 4000 audio channels and numerous editing systems. As well as all handling of the signal management, the KSC Commander also provides convenient level setting for the Snell and Nexus components using HD control panels and the KSC Pilot as the graphical user interface.

A particular highlight is the use of the KSC iCommander , which allows all of the switching to be performed with ease using two Apple iPads®. With remote WLAN antennae, the KSC system provides the convenience of being usable inside and outside the OB van, with a considerable radius – a decisive advantage as it permits very short set-up times for outside broadcasts.

RTS – Radio Télévision Suisse is a public broadcaster and is part of the SSR SRG Group. RTS produces and distributes four radio channels, two TV channels and several interactive platforms from its offices in Geneva and Lausanne. The programmes broadcast by RTS can be received by approx 1.8 million listeners and viewers in French-speaking Switzerland. A series of its TV productions Monde are broadcast worldwide on TV5.
