Hiltron HMAM Motorised Satellite Antenna Mount

Hiltron Communications, one of Europe's leading providers of satellite and microwave communication equipment and systems, will be promoting its full range of services at Broadcast Asia 2010, Singapore, June 15-18.

Exhibiting on stand 8F2-03, Hiltron Communications offers complete satellite-uplink systems, VSAT systems, TVRO systems for cable head-ends or terrestrial retransmission, IPTV head-end systems, DVB-T encoding and multiplexing systems, and mobile microwave links.

New earth station for Telenor in Scandinavia

Hiltron Communications recently completed a contract for the supply of a 7.6 metre K-band transmit/receive antenna system to Telenor, one of the world's leading satellite-link service providers. The antenna forms part of a new earth station in Scandinavia. The earth station is being used with a satellite which has 36 active Ku-band transponders serving audiences in northern, central and eastern Europe. As an integral part of the contract, Hiltron installed and commissioned a transmission system including a 1:4 redundant high-power amplifier and upconverter system operating in the 17.3 to 18.4 GHz frequency range, plus a redundant receive system with low-noise amplifiers and block downconverters. Hiltron also provided monitor and control equipment centred on Visionic in conjunction with the Hiltron HCS3 satcom control unit.

Other recent contracts completed by Hiltron include a major project for Algeria's state broadcaster, Télédiffusion d'Algérie (TDA). This forms a key element of TDA's transition to digital satellite transmission. It included the design, installation and implementation of a VSAT network with a 2.4 metre two-way antenna at numerous sites plus corresponding equipment at the Bouchaoui teleport near the capital city of Algiers. In addition to the antennas, Hiltron supplied 4 W block upconverters, satellite modems and encoders/decoders including power supply units, RF accessories and signal monitors. Overall system control is based on the Hiltron HCS3 platform in conjunction with Visionic network management system.

About Hiltron

In its manufacturing role, Hiltron produces L-Band splitters and matrix systems, antenna positioners, de-ice controllers, main/redundant system switches, fibre-optic and wave guide system controllers, remote monitoring system controllers (including SNMP), satellite uplink/downlink antennas, plus relevant electrical and mechanical subcomponents. Hiltron also distributes satellite modems, microwave amplifiers, transceivers, block upconverters, DVB codecs, multiplexers, LNAs and a range of wave guide equipment.

Hiltron's HCS3 is a modular system based on a 2U chassis which can be equipped with single or dual AC or DC power supplies. The user interface comprises an optional touch-sensitive LCD display mounted on the front panel for local control. One of the two communication card slots (slot A1) is normally equipped with a networking module providing an Ethernet interface. The remaining 11 interface connection slots (A2 to A12) can be equipped with hot-pluggable card modules currently comprising: Monitoring, control and power supply for fibre optic modules; fibre optic N:1 switchover systems; LNB redundancy systems for C-band and Ku-band; HPA redundancy systems; Redundancy systems for DVB MPEG encoders/modulators/IRDs; Other applications for monitor and control.

Hiltron Communications' HMAM motorised satellite antenna mount is an accessibly-priced high-precision rotatable VSAT antenna mount for use in commercial satellite operations. It includes professional-grade drives for azimuth and elevation plus a high-accuracy polarisation drive and is fully compatible with our standard HACU antenna positioning system.

Hiltron will be represented at Broadcast Asia 2010 by Michael Schiestl, Managing Director.
