New products from Lawo at the Prolight+Sound

Audio, video and software for broadcasting, production and live performance

Lawo is bringing both its new, and its tried-and-tested, products to ProLight+Sound 2013, presenting at Booth B50 in Hall 8.0 innovative solutions for broadcasting, production and live performance.

Lawo’s contribution to the field of video in broadcasting is the V_pro8 video processor, which was developed for the live editing of video streams and routing. The V_pro8 convinces through its exceptional performance capability, combined with a compact structure and intuitive user interface that makes work easier. Only one rack unit in height, the new video processor offers inter alia such features as frame synchronisation, format conversion, colour correction, audio de-/embedding and metering. Its 8x8 video and 384x384 audio routers allow all signals to be combined freely. In short, the device includes all the features that make for an efficient, modern studio environment.

Nova73 compact - the little big router
The newly developed Nova73 compact, with its capacity of 5120 x 5120 crosspoints, covers a wide performance spectrum. Up to ten I/O slots can be equipped with MADI, ATM or RAVENNA interface cards. Alternatively, the same slots can be assigned to two AES3 cards. These in turn can make directly available to the Nova73 compact up to 64 AES channels. In combination with an mc² series mixing console, a Nova73 compact with its full complement of five DSP cards has over 600 DSP channels at its disposition.

Flexible and secure
As an interface technology, the tried-and-tested DALLIS I/O system is used: with the DALLIS interfaces, an extensive selection of interface cards is available for the breakout boxes. This allows the modular system to integrate every conceivable type of audio signal, GPIO and control data (RS-422) as well as special SDI and intercom cards.
A high degree of redundancy is a feature of all Lawo systems. The Nova73 compact is no exception, with a redundant power supply fitted as standard and the option of adding a further redundant router module.

The software solutions Lawo is demonstrating in Frankfurt are the broadcast applications EDIT and JADE in the latest version. EDIT is an audio editing program tailored to the needs of radio. Features like an integrated text editor and an audition function for clips make working with EDIT a particularly swift and satisfying experience, allowing editors and journalists alike to concentrate on their real business: content. As a new control centre for PCs, JADE makes it possible to employ all audio interfaces without limitations. JADE understands all the audio applications of relevance to production, letting you switch between their audio signals at the push of a button. JADE also offers native integration of RAVENNA’s IP network technology. This means all local audio signals are also available via the network.

Lawo is also presenting at the Prolight + Sound the Innovason Eclipse live mixer, featuring PANDORA* (*PAN Digitally Optimized for Real Acoustic). This innovative panning process makes it possible at major live music events to provide even those at the extremes of the audience area with a natural listening experience. Unlike conventional panning, this allows those on the extreme right to hear sources emanating from the left – a pleasure hitherto denied them. By panning with PANDORA*, you can deliver perfectly natural sound to all members of the audience – wherever they happen to be sitting.

Of course, Lawo’s comprehensive range of solutions for the professional broadcasting sector – a portfolio of international renown – will also be on view in Frankfurt. This includes the mc² mixing consoles – notably the new, compact mc²56 and the mc²66 – and the desks for Radio-On-Air/Broadcasting, sapphire and crystal.
