Miranda Demonstrates Camera-To-Control Room Solution for OB Vans and Production Trucks
Comprising several product brands, including the recently integrated Telecast Fiber Solutions, Miranda’s solution includes camera connectivity via lightweight fiber, compact routing, signal processing, monitoring and control and multiviewer capabilities all designed for the unique power and space challenges of truck builders.
Miranda’s finely-tuned solution is specifically designed to exploit the advantages of lightweight, easy to install fiber with its line of Telecast CopperHead camera mountable transceivers. Requiring only two strands of fiber optic cable to carry all bi-directional signals, including video, audio, intercom and data, to an OB vehicle, the camera-mountable CopperHead series replaces a multitude of copper coax cables found in typical OB applications and provides enormous savings in weight, power and resources.
CopperHead’s multiple, bi-directional signals can be distributed through an OB truck supported by Miranda’s powerful, space-saving NVISION 8140 router. Taking up only 8RU, the hybrid NV8140 provides a 144x288 routing matrix with ultimate reliability due to full 2+1 crosspoint protection. The ultra-efficient router, part of Miranda’s NVISION 8500 Enterprise Class Router series, supports hybrid modules, which offers audio/video switching and processing in a single chassis and includes a range of advanced options such as an eight-input frame sync card and a disembedding/embedding output card to further exploit the audio handling capabilities of this router.
Miranda has also optimized control with the new NV920 controller, a fully redundant control system housed in only 1RU with advanced tie-line management and HTML5-based monitoring. The high-density, multifunctional router control panels can also be easily re-configured to precisely match the requirements of the user. The NVISION 9654 LCD control panel, for example, has 54 relegendable buttons in only 2RU that provide enormous customization capabilities. Users can quickly recall common configurations and easily change names and colors to enable better functionality and more efficient workflows.
Miranda has taken class-leading advantages from its award-winning Miranda’s Kaleido-X multiviewer range and ascribed them to a powerful, yet space- and energy-efficient modular board set in the new Kaleido-Modular-X, which enables monitoring systems to be created with a combination of versatile input/output cards that use a powerful CPU to drive advanced features and provide excellent video and graphics quality. A significant advantage to OB trucks is that the modules can be used as building blocks to simplify system design within a compact, 3RU, air-cooled Miranda Densité 3 frame.
Handling matrices up to 64x4, Kaleido-Modular-X uses Miranda’s proprietary, SMPTE-compliant FlexBridge interconnect technology that provides ultimate scalability and flexibility while simultaneously saving space by eliminating the need for external adapters. FlexBridge enables input and output modules to be connected within a frame or across multiple frames. There is no limitation on the number of sources. This additional layer of flexibility enables input modules to be installed in a frame adjacent to a router while the output modules can be installed in a separate frame adjacent to the display.
Miranda has also designed this solution with other workflow components in mind. Kaleido multiviewers are built to integrate seamlessly with all commonly used production switchers, enabling them to display tallies directly from the switchers’ program/preview buses.
Miranda’s comprehensive solution not only works seamlessly, it is engineered to save precious space, accelerate performance and provide ultimate connectivity from camera to control room, enabling production vehicles of any kind to fully embrace everything up to and including the 4K productions on the horizon.
