HaiVision Products at the 2010 NAB Show

HaiVision at NAB

HaiVision will unveil the latest additions to the powerful MAKITO™ family with the new MAKITO Decoder and the new MAKITO HD H.264 encoder with DVI, SXGA, and component inputs. HaiVision is also featuring the new FURNACE 5.5, the MB-6 6-slot chassis for the MAKITO/BARRACUDA™ line, and the exciting new and improved STINGRAY™ set-top box.

New MAKITO™ Decoder

At the 2010 NAB Show, HaiVision will launch its latest MAKITO™ Decoder, an H.264 decoder that supports video up to 1080p60. When paired with the very popular MAKITO HD H.264 encoder, this system provides low-latency decoding and efficient delivery of HD video via HD-SDI or HDMI output. Sharing the space-saving, mini-blade form factor and low power requirements of the MAKITO encoder, this new product is an optimal solution for medical and military applications seeking a professional-grade, low-latency, high-performance video decoding solution.

FURNACE 5.5

Also debuting at the 2010 NAB Show is the newly updated FURNACE 5.5, a complete solution for end-to-end HD H.264 video-over-IP distribution. The powerful integrated solution supports the compact MAKITO™ HD H.264 encoder to manage and distribute live video to computers and set-top boxes, to create scheduled playback channels for enterprise TV and signage, and to record content and deliver video-on-demand in a secure, easy-to-use system. HaiVision's Furnace Portal Server controls the direct and secure distribution of SD and HD H.264 video to both the "zero-footprint" InStream™ player and the STINGRAY™ set-top box; the Furnace Playback Manager supports scheduled channels for IP video broadcast and signage; and the Furnace Media Server leverages the efficiencies of H.264 to enable HD video-on-demand (VOD).

The new FURNACE 5.5 incorporates support of in-line metadata (HotMarks™) allowing users to tag video moments with freeform data while recording. HotMarks can be applied directly to the video asset during the recording process either through the Web interface or via third party control systems. FURNACE 5.5 has also been enhanced with new network video recording (NVR) functionalities including API-enabled management; ad hoc recording and pause/resume recording; bookmark insertion with annotations; and publishing. In addition to these operational features, the system also introduces multistream viewing enhancements, a live closed-captioning trigger, and additional security functions.

New Version! STINGRAY™ Set-Top Box

HaiVision has released and will demonstrate at NAB a new model of the STINGRAY™ set-top box in an even more compact form factor and with a broader range of format support. The STINGRAY supports all of the core features of HaiVision's "zero footprint" InStream™ player to enable intuitive and convenient video playout on large-screen displays. The set-top box now provides HDMI, in addition to its component analog (Y,Pb,Pr) and composite outputs. It is also equipped with dual Ethernet network interfaces to offer enhanced support for streaming and data networking. The STINGRAY set-top box is fully integrated within Furnace 5.5, enabling streamlined command and control and facilitating flexible delivery of services such as VOD.

MAKITO™ HD H.264 Encoder with component analog and DVI inputs

HaiVision will also showcase the latest MAKITO™ HD video encoder, which now supports both component analog and DVI inputs. The MAKITO represents the first and only full-featured high-performance compact encoder to combine the efficiencies of H.264 video compression and the image quality of full HD video within a very small form factor at a very competitive price point. The revolutionary encoding system delivers low-latency, full-frame-rate H.264 encoding of HD video up to 1080p60, or computer graphics resolutions up to 1280x1024 75Hz (SXGA). The MAKITO incorporates HiLo-Streaming™, the ability to encode once and emit both high- and low-bandwidth streams simultaneously, and Multi-Streaming, the ability to send streams with different IP encapsulation to different destinations. When integrated with the Furnace IP video system, the MAKITO also distributes 100 percent secure and robust video. The MAKITO offers the most efficient and affordable distribution, capture, and rebroadcast of HD video.

MB6 High-Density Six-Slot Chassis

To support fast deployment of its market-leading encoder systems in even the most space-constrained installations, HaiVision is introducing and will be highlighting at NAB the highest density option for HD encoding — the MB6. This six-slot chassis design holds up to six MAKITO™ or BARRACUDA™ encoders in just a single 1 7/8 inch rack unit. The hot-swappable design of the system allows for various chassis configurations with any combination of MAKITO encoders, MAKITO decoders, or BARRACUDA encoders to meet any video distribution needs.
