Gannett Chooses WSI for HD Weathercasts

Always on the cutting-edge of broadcast meteorology, WSI (Weather Services International) Corporation, the leading provider of superior weather data and graphics systems for the majority of U.S. broadcast and cable networks, today announced that the broadcast division of Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) has selected the weather solutions company as its vendor-of-choice for weathercast HD format enhancements in 17 of Gannett's 19 markets. In addition, Gannett is launching WSI's WeatherActive interactive mapping solution on its stations' locally-branded web sites.

Gannett's Broadcasting Division includes 23 TV stations including: three ABC affiliates, six CBS affiliates, 12 NBC affiliates and two My Network stations. Altogether, they reach 21 million households and cover 18.2 percent of the U.S. population.

• KUSA, Denver, CO
• WTLV/WJXX (FirstCoast News) Jacksonville, FL
• WUSA, Washington, DC

The remaining markets will be on-air and online by early summer.

WSI's new high definition TruVu Max system provides new digital sound capabilities and easy creation/distribution features within a 3D environment in the only 100 percent real-time rendering system available anywhere.
