Eurovision selects ATEME’s Kyrion encoder for 10-bit contribution

ATEME's Kyrion CM4101 encoder was selected by the Eurovision for MPEG-4 10-bit video transmissions by satellite. This selection – the result of extensive tests conducted by the European Broadcasting Union technical department since 2010 – crowns the maturity of MPEG-4 4:2:2 10-bit compression just two years after its market introduction by ATEME in 2009.

“We were impressed by the quality of the product,” said Paolo Pusterla, Head of Procurement & Network Partnerships at EBU Network & News. “ATEME’s Kyrion encoder meets our future requirements and we shall consider its usage for future events carried over the EBU Eurovision network,” added Mr Pusterla.
