ChyronHego’s Virtual 1st Brings Virtual Graphics to Live Football Broadcasts

Easy-to-Operate 1st & 10 System Boosts Sports Analysis Capabilities; Enhances Storytelling: 1st Down Lines, Lines of Scrimmage

ChyronHego today announced the launch of the Virtual 1st, an easy-to-operate 1st & 10 football system for adding state-of-the-art virtual graphics to live football broadcasts. The system employs video overlay and sensorless camera technology to help broadcasters quickly analyze gameplay and provide greater insight to fans. Requiring just a single rack-mounted server, Virtual 1st is ideal for use in stadiums and mobile production units.

Virtual 1st enables a single operator to insert 1st down lines, lines of scrimmage in the color of choice, and animated down and distance arrows that can be customized to the unique style of the broadcaster. The system features a user-friendly interface with a powerful chroma key and functions using up to three camera feeds without the need for camera sensors — cutting costs and installation time.

“Virtual graphics are an integral part of sports broadcasts,” said Mark Bowden, product manager at ChyronHego. “Virtual 1st offers simplicity on every level. The system requires minimal operator training and broadcasters can go from setup to air in as quickly as one hour. The end result is a graphically rich broadcast that can boost ratings through the delivery of an engaging and easy-to-follow story for viewers.”

ChyronHego will debut Virtual 1st at NAB 2014 at booth SL1110, April 7-10.
