Calrec Audio To Launch H2O At IBC

Hydra2 Organizer Allows Software Control Of Hydra2 Networks From Any Browser

Calrec Audio will be showing their new browser-based networking control software, Hydra2 Organizer (H2O) at this year’s IBC show at stand 8.C58. The software allows users to completely reconfigure Hydra2 networks from a PC, including changes to routing, labelling and network access rights, without the need to use a Calrec console control surface.

Calrec Audio will introduce a brand-new management system for their groundbreaking Hydra2 network router at the IBC 2010 in Amsterdam, where they will be exhibiting on Booth C58 in Hall 8.

The Hydra2 Organizer, or H2O, allows the user to control a Hydra2 network independently from any console control surface. Users will be able to set up routes and configure access rights to all desks on a given network, as well as label I/O boxes and ports for ease of identification. The application also offers the ability to arrange ports into folders, making them quicker and easier to locate.

The new software is browser-based, allowing network access from a laptop or PC, and is compatible with Windows, Linux or OS X.

Henry Goodman, Head of Sales and Marketing at Calrec Audio Ltd, states: “Our new H2O control system further integrates Hydra2 into any multi-console installation. Its user-friendly interface works independently of the console and permits different levels of user access to be granted to different personnel. This gives our customers more control and flexibility.”

H2O is especially advantageous for Calrec’s clients who own large, multiple-studio complexes which may be rented to rival companies at different times. For example, if client A is working in two studios, the facility owner must be able to guarantee that it is impossible for the broadcaster to obtain network access to a third studio where client B might be working at the same time. Using access rights, it is now possible to render the third studio completely invisible to users in the two studios rented to client A and vice versa. This gives the customer the flexibility to utilise their network in a manner they could not previously using a single operating system.
