beyerdynamic MCE 85 Shotgun Mic: Perfect Sound for Unique Moments
posted:
The MCE 85 is suitable for mounting on television/film cameras and camcorders. It can be used outdoors (e.g. for report coverage) and it can also be used in theatres or in a studio using a microphone boom. The new beyerdynamic shotgun microphone can also be used as a hand-held microphone, and it is also sure to impress when used on lecterns, as an overhead drum microphone, or in combination with digital sound recording devices. A microphone clamp and a professional pop shield to suppress distracting wind noise are included in delivery.

The MCE 85 is characterised by a super-cardioid or super-cardioid/lobar pattern, meaning that it effectively suppresses background noise from behind or the side. A high-quality electret-condenser cartridge ensures precise conversion of all sound events. Integrated footfall sound insulation prevents the transmission of low-frequency signals. The frequency response of the shotgun microphone ranges from 40 hertz to 19 kHz (MCE 85 PV) or 34 hertz to 19 kHz (MCE 85 BA). A switchable high-pass filter (corner frequency 120/160 Hz) limits the broad frequency range as required and reduces unwanted proximity effects.
The attractive and very sturdy aluminium housing makes the MCE 85 an extremely durable yet lightweight microphone. Without battery and cable, the MCE 85 BA weighs in at only 110 grams (MCE 85 PV: 81 grams). The perfectly proportioned body (length 284/200 mm, diameter 23 mm) meets high-quality design requirements.

Each MCE 85 is handcrafted in Germany and is characterised by excellent sound quality. Authentic sound is the result of decades of engineering experience in microphone manufacture, and low inherent noise and a higher maximum sound pressure level are a matter of course. Optionally available accessories, including a hot shoe set and an XLR to stereo mini jack adapter, make the beyerdynamic microphone a professional choice for a number of recording applications.
