Belden Professional Broadcast Cabling Delivers Superior Performance and Reliability

New World-Class 25,000-Seat Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium Selects Belden Cutting Edge Cabling Infrastructure

Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has highlighted how the recently completed 45,000 square-meter Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium located in Al Ain in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has used Belden copper and fiber cables to achieve the highest signal integrity and the latest camera compatibility. The professional broadcasters’ trusted Belden brand cabling infrastructure supports 85 screens, including an enormous 40 square meter stadium screen, a sophisticated audio system, dedicated media centre, press conference room, outside broadcast units and more than 30 camera locations for television broadcasting.

The Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium called for state-of-the-art video and audio transmission in compliance with all requirements of Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) standards, including cables to interconnect professional high-definition Sony video cameras, transmit high-definition broadcasting signals, collect data from outside broadcast vans and deliver crisp, clear sound throughout the stadium.

The region’s leading systems integrator, Al-Futtaim Technologies, selected Belden’s Pro Broadcast Solutions because the company offers a complete product portfolio, backed by a proven track record of quality, consistency and reliability, providing Hazza Bin Zayed with the signal integrity and the latest camera compatibility the stadium requires.

Product information
For the camera infrastructure, Hazza Bin Zayed used 23 km of Belden’s Triax 11 copper and 9 km of SMPTE 311M fiber composite camera cables. Designed specifically for HD cameras in compliance with SMPTE standards, Belden Triax 11 cables enable multiplexing audio and video signals and DC power to the camera. Used for greater distances, the SMPTE 311M hybrid optical fibre cables can also multiplex audio, video and power for HD cameras. They feature bend-insensitive singlemode fiber and Belden’s innovative UV-resistance Brilliance outer jacket.

The Hazza Bin Zayed’s live video broadcasting and audio infrastructure was made up of a combination of 5 km of Belden’s precision RG6 coaxial cable and 23 km of Belden 2-pair 22 AWG stranded conductors with overall Beldfoil shield for superior noise immunity. 10 km of Belden central loose tube singlemode fiber cable was also used for data and control systems, including data collection to outside broadcast vans.
