Axon's Neuron Wins Prestigious IABM Peter Wayne Award

The Peter Wayne Award for Design & Innovation was inaugurated by the IABM in 1990 in memory of a former deputy chairman of the association and recognises new products and technologies that offer a significant contribution to the broadcast and media industry. Judged by a panel of renowned specialists, the award has become highly sought after as recognition of outstanding technical achievement. Axon was selected for this accolade from a list of 14 nominated companies.

Neuron is a networked live media production system based on open standard Ethernet AVB. It employs IEEE standards, many of which Axon has been actively involved in creating (most notably the definition of the video transport format in the IEEE1722 standard). During the last 18 months and with no less than seven industry awards, Axon has shown the evolution of its Neuron technology from a single SD stream to multi-stream, multi-hop, multi-vendor transport of UHD video and associated audio.

As the name ‘Neuron’ implies, this new technology enables the design and realization of very powerful networked infrastructures for broadcast applications.  Using the massive backbone speed of modern IT based Ethernet equipment, Neuron will revolutionize the way video and/or audio live production infrastructures are built, making them highly flexible and easy to reconfigure.
