ARRI's Fiber Remote Option Adds More Features

.

Recently employed on an exciting concert film for Coldplay and a televised recording session with Robbie Williams, ARRI’s Fiber Remote Option (FRO) for ALEXA is elevating broadcast visual design with breathtaking, cinematic imagery that the ALEXA digital camera system is known for.

New features debuting at NAB 2013 include a new Fiber Remote box design and monitor mount that allows greater flexibility to position the camera monitor and optimal ergonomics for the operator. Also new software versions have been released: ALEXA SUP 7.1 (for ALEXA FRO only) and firmware v1.3 for the Copperhead CHCRP-2050. These updates allow synchronizing genlock with the HD-SDI return signal for integration into typical broadcast environments, as well as adjusting sensitivity of the master pedestal for sensitive operation. Increased flexibility with adjusting White Balance is possible now by manually selecting the Kelvin color temperature value directly on the remote control panel. In addition, a new color saturation setting is available in the RCP menu, which allows even more remote control on ALEXA image parameters.

With a high sensitivity over two stops more compared to typical 2/3’ camera systems, superior image quality and high dynamic range, the ALEXA FRO is perfectly suited for demanding multi-camera broadcast studio or OB-van productions in progressive or interlaced mode up to 1080/60.

The ALEXA Fiber Remote Option is a certified setup that includes CopperHead from Telecast Fiber Systems, allowing ALEXA and ALEXA Plus models to be connected through SMPTE 311M fiber and remote controlled for live painting of the image. The shallow depth of field and excellent color rendition achieves higher production value for telenovelas, soaps, sitcoms, events, music concerts, talk shows, magazines, sport specials and more.
