All Change At Hammersmith

AES 2010 in London

The 128th Convention of the Audio Engineering Society, the international audio technology organisation and standards body, takes place in London this year, from May 22nd-25th, at the Novotel Convention Centre, Hammersmith.

AES Convention Returns To London After 23 Years

As always, the AES Convention consists of technical presentations and discussion sessions, workshops, and student-orientated activities (such as the ever-popular recording competition and career fair), which will be running throughout the Novotel Centre from Saturday, May 22nd until Tuesday May 25th. The associated equipment exhibition, which takes place in the neighbouring Novotel Exhibition Hall and showcases some of the latest developments in pro audio, starts one day later on May 23rd. A truly international mix of speakers is lined up for the Convention, with origins from Bangalore to Bridgend, in sessions ranging from white-paper presentations on the latest developments in psychoacoustic research, forensic audio restoration techniques and surround sound, to practical discussion sessions on the future of running commercial studios and producing audio soundtracks for console and computer games. Details of the complete program of events and sessions can be found on-line at:

The 2010 AES Exhibition provides a great opportunity for pro audio distributors and manufacturers to display their latest products to a dedicated, audio-focused audience, at the heart of one of the world’s most active pro audio sales markets. At the time of going to press, nearly 80 different international pro-audio manufacturers and brands were set to be represented on the stands of over 40 exhibitors. Many of these are launching significant new products at the show, including Audio Precision, Clear-Com, Ghielmetti, MicW, PMC, PSI and Steinberg. A full list of exhibitors can be found at:

Roger Furness, Executive Director of the AES, comments: "We're delighted that the AES has returned to London after so many years — it's actually 23 years since the Convention was last held here — and we can promise an excellent programme of AES events, technical presentations and guest speakers to accompany its return to the UK. The exhibition is a smaller show than in previous years, but we think that's appropriate given the economic difficulties we've all been going through over the last 18 months. But the mood is upbeat — we've got a fine cross-section of companies announcing new and exciting products at the show, and supporting the pro-audio industry in one of its strongest markets, the UK. For many pro audio companies, AES is the only real chance to exhibit their new products to dedicated audio customers in Europe this year. Perhaps that’s why this is proving a popular show for product launches. In all, we're confident this year's Convention will reward everyone who attends, whether as a visitor, speaker, student or exhibitor."

Visitors to the AES Convention pay £20 for access to the exhibition only when pre-booking on-line, with access to the full programme of events, including all of the technical presentations and discussion sessions costing £260 in advance. Members of the AES, students and AES student members can obtain discount pricing, and passes for single-day admission and to individual events and presentations are also available. However, passes bought on the day at the exhibition are more expensive. For full details and pricing, see
