TV3 Awarded for its Participation in a Pioneering 3D Project

The broadcast was carried out and supervised at the technical level by a team from TV3, led by Paulí Subirà, Head of Image

The broadcast of the concert by Spanish band Violadores del verso in 3D format and 5.1 sound was awarded one of the Premios Producción Profesional prizes last night, at the opening of the Broadcast IT fair.

The project, that went by the name of "5", and is the first world-wide live broadcast of a concert in 3D format and 5.1 sound, was awarded the prize Best Technical Execution for TV programmes for its innovation in the technical contribution and production, at the 9th Premios Producción Profesional edition. TV3 had in fact been commissioned with the production of the event, an initiative by the Aragonese Broadcasting Corporation (Corporación Aragonesa de Radioy Televisión).

The broadcast in 3D format and 5.1 sound of the concert of the hip hop group Violadores del verso took place on 10th June in Saragossa and meant an unprecedented technological milestone. The broadcast was carried out and supervised at the technical level by a team from TV3, led by Paulí Subirà, Head of Image and Artistic Services. The feat meant the overcoming a new technological challenge along the lines opened up by TV3 of producing and broadcasting big events in 3D, such as the first Champions League final that was broadcast using this format.

The prize distinguishes the most innovative TV programme from the point of view of its technical contribution or production, a category in which the “5” project competed with the production of Telecinco “Piratas”; “Verano directo”, produced by Mediapro for La Sexta; “14 d'abril. La República”, produced by Diagonal TV for TVE, and “Hispania, la leyenda”, by Bambú Producciones for Antena 3.

The award giving ceremony of the Premios Producción Profesional launched the International Professional Fair on Audiovisual Technology Broadcast IT held in Madrid. It is the leading technology fair in the Spanish state, and will be held in Madrid throughout the week.
