Lega Serie A and Infront to Produce 2015 TIM Cup Final in 4K Ultra-HD

The two partners continue to drive progress in media production – as Juventus Turin plays Lazio Rome today evening

Infront Sports & Media, the media production partner of the Lega Serie A, is offering national and international broadcasters a state-of-the-art 4K Ultra-HD signal for the 2015 TIM Cup Final between Juventus Turin and Lazio Rome played tomorrow, 20 May at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome at 20:45. Delivering the Italian football highlight in the latest 4K technology, marks the culmination of Infront’s regular HD production operation across the season.

The Lega Serie A and Infront are working together with DBW Communication, a supplier of technical and specialised systems for shooting and recording, to build a production set-up of 28 HD cameras and an additional six 4K cameras. 4K Ultra-HD is an innovative technology providing images four times more defined than those in HD. The game will also be filmed in HFR (High Frame Rate) at 50 frames per second, twice the number of frames currently used for television broadcasts – creating a clearer flow of image information to capture as much detail from the game as possible.

First ever HDR production of football match
As another first for a football match, the HDR (High Dynamic Range) recording system will be adopted. HDR technology delivers a more outstanding colour depth and contrast ratio between light and dark areas than ever before. The signal will be available in two 4K Ultra-HD versions – one in a Standard Dynamic Range (the standard currently supported by 4K–compatible television devices) and one in High Dynamic Range. The latter is tailored to the latest generation of television sets supporting HDR technology and will be available on the market over the coming months.
