Viasat Expands with New Harris Broadcast Platinum™ IP3 Router

As part of a increase in the capabilities of its Riga broadcast center in Latvia, direct-to-home satellite and Pay TV operator Viasat, part of Modern Times Group, MTG, has installed a new 512x1024 Platinum™ IP3 router from Harris Broadcast. The new router, supplied and installed by Latvian distributor Tilts Integration, expands the capabilities of Viasat’s existing Harris Broadcast Platinum router. The Platinum IP3 will massively increase signal capacity as well as resilience through redundant crosspoints. Together, the two routers will support more than 1500 outputs to accommodate future expansion.

Mediapro, the host broadcaster in Spain, managed the distribution of the international signal produced by Formula One Management (FOM) at the Spanish Grand Prix, which was seen in 72 different countries around the world. The Mediapro group provided services for 27 broadcasters who produced customised viewer signals. The broadcast on Antena 3 notched up an impressive 49.2% share and 5.6 million viewers who tuned in to see Fernando Alonso win the race at the Montmeló track.

Locally owned Five/Four Productions, Ltd. announced that it has successfully captured the world's highest resolution audio recording. Five/Four Recording Producer Thomas Moore, Recording Engineer Robert Friedrich, and Assistant Engineer Ian Dobie travelled to Worcester, Massachusetts to record Joseph Haydn's masterpiece Missa in Angustiis (Nelson Mass) Hob XXII:11, and Symphony No. 102 in B flat major Hob. I/102, with Martin Pearlman and Boston Baroque in the world-renowned acoustic of Mechanics Hall. The recording is tentatively planned for release in October, 2013 on the Linn Records label.
